Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom.
John Lee Hooker is one of the greats of the blues. With his mixture of vocals and speech and the infectious beats, he became a world star. He developed a completely new sound. His electrically amplified guitar, his instrumental pieces, which he accompanied only by the clacking of the crown corks under the soles of his shoes, were trend-setting. His style also includes lyrics that often don't rhyme even when the rhyme actually seems unavoidable. Countless songs dominated the R&B charts in the 1950s and 60s, and later he even enjoyed great success with his blues in the pop charts. His music always crossed borders and generations. His guest appearance in the cult film Blues Brothers is legendary, and Depeche Mode used one of his guitar riffs for the song Personal Jesus. At the age of 72, Hooker won his first Grammy and is now also part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
