Evergreens For Generations.
The Rolling Stone magazine voted Roy Orbison in 37th place among the greatest musicians and 13th place among the greatest singers of all time. However, before he became successful as a singer himself, he first made a reputation as a songwriter. He wrote songs for Johnny Cash, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and many other stars. With Only The Lonely he achieved his first own hit, with which he became famous in the USA and in Europe at once. Hit after hit followed, all his songs reached the charts in the next four years and Roy Orbison became a world star. He was the first US-musician who toured through England with The Beatles and had to play 14 extras at his first concert before The Beatles could finally perform themselves. Until his early death in 1988, when he was only 52 years old, Orbison kept coming back with smaller and bigger successes. With his bulky, dark sunglasses and his melancholic love ballads, he remains unforgotten to this day.
